Perth’s Best Yoga Studios

Searching for the studio that fits just right? Use our guide to the top contenders in Perth.

8 Limbs

Leederville

Teacher Liz has got a unique ability to juggle a bunch of self-practising yogis, keeping track of their postures and where they are in the Ashtanga Yoga series, while – in parallel! – teaching a fully-fledged class to yogis who haven’t memorised the series and want a led practice.

North Perth Yoga Room

North Perth

The studio overall will give you the feeling that you’ve just gained “breathing space”; space to develop at your own pace, in a supportive environment. It’s the kind of place where people will voluntarily pick up other students’ props after class to stack them away.

Yoga West

Shenton Park

A Perth institution and not to be missed if you’re interested in the Iyengar style of yoga or just want to get a really solid, comprehensive foundation in your practice. The welcoming upstairs space feels warm and homely the second you enter, and the select decoration (think: wood) has a calming effect on the eye.

The Yoga Space

Maylands

The Yoga Space is a dedicated Ashtanga yoga studio; except that it’s not. Of course you’ll find the usual suspects such as early morning Mysore classes, Ashtanga Led Drop In classes and Beginners Courses, but the timetable also features lovely additions such as Yin by Candlelight or an Advanced Vinyasa class (for those who really want to push their limits and explore new postures). Not your bag? There are also Kids, Pregnancy, and Yoga Therapy classes on offer.

The Yoga Vine

Perth CBD

With the studio located right on St Georges Terrace it’s no wonder that the room was packed with chatty, excited yogis, all ready to spend (and receive!) energy in Donna’s dynamic class. Her 45min classes are perfectly choreographed and give plenty of energy for the rest of a long working day. To those who have the luxury of time we highly recommend staying put for Donna’s Roll & Release class. You don’t even need to be into yoga at all – runners, cyclists, swimmers, this one’s for you!

Tamara Yoga

Claremont, Bibra Lake, and Fremantle

Tamara’s 9.15am class was packed with loyal enthusiasts of the school’s ISHTA form of yoga, an all-encompassing, comprehensive form of yoga that includes both spiritual and physical aspects of the practice (the acronym stands for the Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda). With thousands of teaching hours under her belt, Tamara certainly knows what she’s doing when she asks you to picture your spine like the long, beautiful stem of a lotus flower!
