Sneak Peek: How Nutritionist Lee Holmes Gets, and Keeps, Her Glow InterviewsBy Green Goodness CoNovember 20, 2021 Share First up, briefly tell us a bit about yourself and what you do! I’m a wellness blogger, author, nutritionist, yoga teacher, wife and mum. While I’m currently blogging about all things green, I haven’t always been seen sipping on greenies and chowing down the carrots. After my own health journey with an autoimmune condition, I found that the food that I eat, and even more so, the life that I live, truly impacts your whole wellbeing. Currently I have eight best-selling books including Supercharged Food: Eat Your Way to Health, Supercharged Food: Eat Yourself Beautiful, Eat Clean, Green and Vegetarian, Heal your Gut, Eat Right for Your Shape, Supercharged Food for Kids, Fast Your Way to Wellness and Supercharge Your Gut. I also run a four-week online ‘Heal Your Gut’ program and bi-weekly ‘Supercharge Your Gut Program’ and have created my Supercharged Food Earth Mask & Scrub. I have two gut-healing products – Love Your Gut Powder and Golden Gut Blend. What time do you wake up most days and how many hours of sleep do you aim for? I’ve always been an early riser – I’m usually up by 6am and try to aim for eight hours of sleep a night. What’s your morning routine to set you up for a great day? After trying many things (oil pulling, lemon water, journaling, meditation and you know the rest), I’ve found for myself that simple works best. The first thing I do when I wake up is have a tablespoon of Love Your Gut Powder with a glass of warm lemon water because I believe that gut health is the gateway to good health, beauty and happiness. I love to start my day with a walk, just me – no phone, no friends and no work. I take a break from emails, from my family and from my schedule and enjoy some time to myself. I love walking to the park and disconnecting from the craziness of traffic and my usual surroundings. There’s nothing that motivates me to make it to the top of my hill more than a cup of delicious home-made chai tea! Describe a typical day of eating for you. I’m a big lover of breakfast with eggs, so I tend to have something like my Turmeric Scrambled Eggs. Otherwise, I love home-made granola or porridge. For lunch, I usually have leftovers from the night before so that could be a salad, soup or anything in between! I always make sure to get filling protein and greens. If I’m feeling snacky in the afternoon, I sometimes have a few cut up vegetables, a tablespoon of nut butter (okay… probably more than a tablespoon – that stuff is addictive!) or some Turmeric Fudge. No one makes chai tea quite like I do so I always have a pot on stove – ready to be served! It’s my obsession, for real. Dinnertime for me is a special time to share with my family. I love a good round table and sharing food with people that matter most to me. At the moment with the change of seasons, I love a good soup like this one here but I can’t go past a hearty bone broth. Tell us about your daily beauty routine! What are your non-negotiables for looking and feeling your best? Like my morning routine, my skincare routine is simple. As I said before, the first thing I do is drink a scoop of my Love Your Gut Powder, as beauty comes from within. I then wash my face with warm water, a cleanser and rosehip oil. I always make sure to apply sunscreen before heading out for my day and apply a mineral foundation and mascara depending on the day. Even if it’s been a long day, I always make sure to remove my make-up; it’s a non-negotiable for me. I then apply my Supercharged Food Earth Mask & Scrub as either an exfoliating scrub or mask. I apply it and then rinse it off in a nice warm shower. I then love applying Rosehip oil again it night and sleep with it on – there’s nothing better than the feel of Rosehip on my skin! Favourite farmers market or healthy place to shop? I love Flannery’s in Bondi Junction – it’s just recently opened and has everything I’ve ever needed and more. What’s your fitness routine & favourite way to get sweaty and where’s your go-to? I mix it up between walks, yoga and Pilates classes and weights at my gym. I find that by mixing up my routine I’m always stimulated and motivated to work-out. For me, exercise is more of a mental break than anything else. What’s the one beauty or wellness treatment you can’t live without? And your favourite place to have it done? I love a good massage – anything that releases tension for me is the treatment for me. Are you into any woo-woo wellness trends? One of my friends gave me a Rose Quartz for Christmas last year secretly, I absolutely love it. I know it’s a bit woo-woo but it seriously gives me luck. Plus, it’s so beautiful. POPULAR TAGS | goodness pick, Main, discover, trending Green Goodness Co
