The Ultimate Guide to the Best Healthy Cafes in Margaret River

If you’re looking for an excuse to break out of hibernation, planning a sneaky down south retreat to Margaret River or already in the area, here’s the top 5 healthy cafés to nourish your mind, body and spirit.

The Urban Bean

The Urban Bean is Margaret River’s longest running café of 18 years, it’s inviting, eclectic and in February 2018 became a vegetarian café. They’re famous for their chai latte, healthy food and amazing selection of raw treats, all made on site with love by their talented team.

The menu is extensive, offering dairy-free, grain-free, paleo and vegan options. Choosing what to eat will be the biggest dilemma you have, with dishes, beverages and treats that ALL sound (and taste) incredible. The staff are super friendly and passionate about all things healthy and happy to have a chat.

Sidekick Café

Here is the funky, relatively new kid on the block, located in the heart of Margaret River. Discover their “Lifechanging Bread” topped with avocado coupled with a blue latte – I was hooked instantly! You’ll also find matcha, charcoal, beetroot and turmeric lattes on offer along with an extensive list of organic teas. For the coffee and tea drinkers who love theatrics try the dirty chai or cold drip coffee.

Sidekick café is environmentally conscious, sustainable and organic and have all recipe ingredients listed so customers know exactly what they’re eating. The presentation is beautiful with edible home-grown flowers adorning most dishes.

The Hairy Marron

Located on the edge of the forest overlooking the mighty Margaret River, this cosy mud brick café is just oozing quintessential, Margaret River charm. They offer mountain bike hire and trail maps so you can hit the myriad of trails that are in the immediate area and foster your connection with nature. For the less adventurous, there are stunning walking loops with towering karri trees and the weir is less than a kilometre away. They offer advice on the best spots to explore in the area, provide you with maps and even pump your tyres and check your gears for free. The Hairy Marron offers a simple menu with food options designed for “grab and go”, while still being welcoming for you to sit and enjoy a cuppa and snack after some arduous adventuring.

Blue Ginger Café

As soon as you step in the door you’ll realise you’ve landed at the locals’ café. The big brother, Blue Ginger Fine Foods (where you can enjoy a luxe dinner) is attached to the café, with both being an Aladdin’s Cave & treasure trove of organic gourmet delights.

You’ll be welcomed by a team of quirky women who are passionate about all things healthy and gourmet. There are plenty of healthy breakfast options until 11.00am and after that you can check out the cabinet brimming with all types of interesting food. They serve matcha lattes, with various milk options, herbal teas, coffee and you can buy packets of Mermaid Latte (Blue Matcha), Golden Latte (Turmeric) and Velvet Latte (Beetroot Chai).

Drift Cafe

Set just off the main street in Margaret River, Drift Cafe is cute with a homely vibe. The cabinet at the counter is full of delightful raw treats and healthy food options, offering a wonderful range of fresh cold pressed juices and smoothies from their juice and café bar. They make their own delicious zucchini bread, almond milk, cashew milk and gluten free bread - lovingly serve by the owners Colin and Gaye.
