With a newly opened yoga and Pilates studio in town and plenty of spots to stay well-nourished — here’s seven of our favourite: Morning Pilates or yoga classes at the new Balanze Studio Balanze Studio, Claremont If you’ve been doubling up more than one membership at a Pilates and yoga studio, look no further than Claremont’s newly opened inclusive yoga and reformer Pilates studio. Launched in April, Balanze offers mat Pilates, Vinyasa, yin yoga and of reformer classes in their slick modern studio with a community vibe. With a beautiful communal lounge space to drink tea and snack on bliss balls, they encourage students to stay and chat and refuel before or after class. Pay a visit to Motion Lifestyle for some new activewear Claremont For those whose yoga pants or running shoes are on their last legs, Motion Lifestyle in Claremont lets you to seamlessly transition from the studio to the street. Stop for a chia pod or warm porridge at Daisies Cottesloe The local sweetheart of Cottesloe, Daisie’s cafe is the ideal post Pilates or yoga pit stop for a coffee and an easy, healthy breakfast. Soak in the sun on the grass with your friend or beloved pooch, or cosy up inside with a warm homemade porridge to refuel after class. My Health Market Cottesloe For a grocery shop that’s easy on the planet and on your body, My Health Market is a good little local to stock up on dry goods from their bulk section, organic whole foods, vitamins, essential oils, or whatever else you may need for the week. With a section for natural makeup and personal care, you’ll find everything from natural deodorant, to bamboo toothbrushes. Stop at Nature’s Harvest for lunch or a midday snack Cottesloe Home to Cottesloe’s best smoothie bowls, Natures Harvest offer portions so generous that they can sometimes be a struggle to get through, even after a Pilates class, it’s impossible to stop because they’re that good. With warm red lentil curries and turmeric lattes to keep you warm during winter, you can also stock up on all your favourite health foods in their store while you’re at it. Visit Il Lido for an afternoon coffee Cottesloe For an afternoon pick me up, you won’t find better baristas or views than at Il Lido. Made with their own Mano a Mano blend of coffee beans roasted at Gordon Street Garage in West Perth, it’s one of the most consistent coffee spots in the area. The well-loved Italian café and restaurant have also earned steady accolades for their commitment to good service, good wine, handmade pasta and great produce. Afternoon picnics in the Civic Gardens Cottesloe Fancy terms like ‘forest bathing’ and ‘earthing’ have grown in popularity over recent years, overstating the simple virtue of getting some fresh air and vitamin D. We’re strong advocates of a daily dose of fresh air and sun, however, not all parks are made equal — especially not Cottesloe’s Civic Centre — one of Perth’s most idyllic picnic spots. Complete with ocean views, the cascading gardens lined with ornate balustrades and Norfolk pine trees, this green glade is a magic spot to park a picnic mat with some good food and good company.
