Perth’s Healthiest Restaurants

Finding something healthy for breakfast or lunch is a piece of cake with so many amazing healthy cafés now in Perth, but if you’re stumped for where to go for a healthy dinner, here’s six of our favourites you can try:

East Perth

Passionate author, Australian chef and TV personality Pete Evan’s has put his philosophy on Paleo food into practice at his restaurant Heirloom, at Fraser Suites Perth. Featuring only seasonal, organic and local produce, “the menus are about well sourced food from the land and sea simply prepared for maximum nourishment” says Pete Evans. Serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner, a group set menu and organic wines featured on the list, you can trust that everything you order is going to be healthy and nourishing.

Serving up tapas on William St in Northbridge fresher and healthier than you’ve ever seen before, the menu at DejaVu focuses on passionate cooking and sourcing local produce. Wrap your lips around their healthy sesame and pan fried local greens, chilli and garlic edamame beans and their highly recommended coconut and jackfruit pakora balls, which you can access 7 nights a week.

Health Freak Cafe Lounge

Everything at Health Freak Café and Lounge is gluten and sugar free and caters to nearly all dietary needs so it’s the perfect go-to if you have food intolerances or you’re a plant-based eater. Even the burgers are healthy, from breadless burgers sandwiched between two slices of aubergine, paleo burgers and keto burgers, it’s a great one to suggest if you’re mates insist on getting something naughty for dinner and they probably won’t even know the difference.

Young Love Mess Hall

William St’s new haunt ticks all the boxes, from the perfect date night, watering hole or healthy dinner spot. The darkly lit and moody vibe with hanging planters, long communal tables and a beautiful bar make for the perfect evening oasis from bustling Northbridge. For food; you can expect delicious things like their famous Japanese Succotaash, a smoky and charred mix of eggplant and stiff pea puree, or their baby carrots with fresh cheese and candied fennel —whatever you order — the food at Young Love Mess Hall won’t disappoint.

Aisuru Sushi

Another spot on William St that’s been going strong since its inception is everyone’s favourite Japanese joint, Aisuru Sushi and if you didn’t know it before, they’re vegan and vegetarian friendly. Nearly all their starters are plant-based, from edamame, tempura string beans, lotus chips of a variety of different tofu dishes and for mains there’s a whole section of the menu dedicated to vegan sushi rolls, ten delicious one’s to be exact!

Bread in Common

If the sparkle of hundreds of hanging lights, beautiful interiors and the smell of freshly baked bread don’t draw you in as you walk past Pakenham St, then one look at the menu at Bread in Common surely will. If you’re a believer in seasonal farm to table cuisine, then this is the place for you. While their menu changes seasonally, the chef’s always offer a fresh and healthy menu with plenty of options for those that are gluten free or vegan, you might find dishes like their ricotta, broad beans, lemon, nutmeg and mint, or salmon, baby peppers, kale and pineapple vinegar for the center of the table — we recommend giving them a buzz to see what’s currently on the menu.
