Share

Rain hail or shine, spending time with your BFF will make any weekend better! So, we decided to compile our favourite healthy date ideas for you and your BF. Whether you want to move your body, pick berries, try a vegan high tea or find all the best farmers markets, we have listed our favourites for you both to try this weekend.

1000 Steps (drop into Lorna for brunch after)

Escape the hustle and the bustle of the city, soak up Mother nature and get that heart rate up all at the same time. The 1000 steps has been a well-known spot for all fitness levels, keep your eye out for pre-season athletes, fitness junkies, mums & bubs, or just the casual goer wanting to get moving outside. Be prepared to hike 5km up the steps and enjoy the views of the Dandenong Ranges National Park on the way.

Collingwood Children’s Farm

Not just for the kiddies! Enjoy a leisurely stroll or even a picnic in the paddock and watch the farm community at work. You might be lucky enough to milk the cows, cuddle or even feed the many animals roaming. If you arrive on the right weekend, you can enjoy the farmers market and grab a coffee at the onsite café.

Melbourne Farmers Market, Various Locations

Who doesn’t love spending the weekend strolling the stalls and supporting our hardworking local Aussie farmers? Not to mention the fresh food to eat whilst walking around is the best bit! All markets are plastic bag free so get into the swing and BYO produce bags and keep cups too. A super cool initiative they have implemented is that wherever possible goods sold will be compostable packaging including PLA, cardboard or bamboo.

Peninsula Hot Springs

Worth the hour drive from Melbourne with your BFF and catch up whilst soaking in all the goodness of the natural hot thermal springs. Experience over 30 globally-inspired bathing experiences including the cave pool, reflexology walk, Turkish steam bath (Hamam), sauna, cold plunge pools, family bathing area, massaging thermal mineral showers, but our favourite part… the hilltop pool, with stunning 360-degree views of the Mornington Peninsula region. If you are an early bird, we suggest getting up and watching the sunrise, it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Roof Top Cinema, Melbourne CBD

It wouldn’t be a BFF date night if it didn’t include the amazing rooftop cinemas. Watch the classics like Mean Girl or something new, laugh, cry, fall in love with Zac Efron all over again and enjoy a mocktail or two at the hippest place in Melbourne.

Bounce Inc, Essendon Fields

Another one not just for the kiddies! Get your exercise on, laugh till you can’t laugh anymore and jump jump jump around. Bounce Inc is the coolest place to hang out with your bestie, they even have a Saturday night Jams party every week, so you can hip and hop listening to the best RnB, Hip Hop, EDM, Mashups, Pop, and even a little Biebs – what more could you want?

Picnic at Hanging Rock, Mount Macedon Ranges

Escape the city and head to Hanging Rock in the Mount Macedon Ranges, an hour from Melbourne. Pack a picnic, go for a hike in the gorgeous surroundings or head to one of the many music concerts and events.

Free Fitness Classes, Fed Square Melbourne

Melbourne is well known for the long list of stunning yoga studios, but you may not yet have experienced the free fitness classes available at Fed Square. Grab your bestie, your drink bottle and throw on your fav activewear and ‘get physical’. Classes are for all fitness levels and run on Tuesday and Fridays each week.

The Bramble Farm, Langwarrin

Imagine skipping through the rows and rows of fresh berries, being able to eat them all while hanging out and catching up on the latest goss with your BFF – dream! The Bramble Farm has more than 10,000 brambleberry vines, to go with more than 28,0000 canes of raspberries. Pick everything from Raspberries, Blackberries, Tayberries, Youngberries, Red Currants, Jostaberries, or pick up a fresh cold pressed juice, jam, and even honey. The farm is open seven days a week from 9—5 pm.

Onsen Ma Japanese Bathhouse, Melbourne CBD

Feel like a day of pampering? Grab your BFF and head into Melbourne’s only Japanese Bathhouse. Enter an environment of relaxing and revitalizing energy. Japanese bathing cleanses the body and serves to refresh and relax. Whether you want to simply bathe and unwind, or spoil yourselves with a massage and sauna, this is the place to do it.

Vegan High Tea, Aunt Maggies, Carlton

Since making healthy changes to your lifestyle, I’m sure you assumed ‘High Tea’ would be off the menu… not anymore! Aunt Maggies in Carlton now has a Vegan High Tea. Enjoy a gut-loving Kombucha on arrival, followed by all the bite-sized cruelty-free tostadas, vegan cheeses and cakes your belly could eat.

Welcome to Thornbury Food Trucks, Thornbury

Welcome to Thornbury is Melbourne’s first permanent Bar and Food Truck Stop. Every day there are new food trucks turning up to serve you their very best produce. Each month look forward to seeing over 80 different food trucks rotating daily, with three to seven trucks or marquees on site at once. Grab dinner or try one of many gelatos, and sit in the sunshine in the uber cool beer garden.
