The Yoga Space

Welcome to The Yoga Space, run by Dr Jean Byrne and Rob Schütze, who are two of eleven Australians Authorised by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois to teach Ashtanga Yoga. At the Yoga Space we uphold the traditional method of learning Ashtanga Yoga passed for generations from teacher to student. Our morning Mysore program is taught by Rob and Jean, and is Perth’s only Mysore program recognised by the K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute of Mysore, India. Both Rob and Jean have made more than 8 trips to the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India to gain their Authorisation to teach, and together they pass on what their late teacher Pattabhi Jois has taught them. They continue to return to India to practice under the guidance of Sharath Jois (Jois’s grandson), as do all Yoga Space Ashtanga teachers, so you can know you are learning the Ashtanga method safely and correctly.

We also offer classes to support you throughout the cycle of life with Kids, Pre Natal, Post Natal, Active Birth, Menopause, Vinyasa and Yin Classes. Our regular retreats and workshop will help you to deepen your understanding of the practice of yoga and for aspiring yoga teachers we offer a transformational Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training Course (Registered with the YTAA).

Our studio is wonderful space in which you can unwind and learn more about yoga and meditation. Yoga Space teachers are passionate about their own practice of yoga, are friendly, professional, highly trained and always happy to answer your questions. We look forward to seeing you on the mat soon.
