Tell us about yourself, what do you do?

I’m a Peak Performance Specialist and a Sports Dietitian. I work with businesses, leaders and their teams to access best performance (in a physical and mental sense). I also consult to the food industry and the media.

Why is nutrition important to you?

I love the fact that eating well and nourishing your body can transform lives. The energy that you receive from healthy food means that you are able to do the things you want to do, play with the kids and chase the dreams and goals in life without limits.

What does your ideal day consist of?

Always starts with exercise (walk, run or yoga), work which I love, time with my three young kids and husband and the beach.

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?

I LOVE Italy, so much that we are currently renovating an 800 year old property in Lucca, Tuscany! Its hard work doing that from Perth, so I would like to pop over for the day to see it in person. We love their lifestyle, amazing food and history.

How do you inject a bit of #livingthegreen (nourish, nurture, move) into your day to day life?

Daily exercise is not negotiable to me and I always start the day with it. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and I know that starting the day with my favourite cereal, yoghurt and fresh berries is the best way to nourish my body.

What does #livingthegreen mean to you?

To me, it means putting all the ingredients of a healthy life together and including daily exercise, eating well, getting enough sleep and keeping stress levels manageable. One aspect alone does not do the job and will not result in a healthy body.

Where do you go to source fresh ingredients for your meals?

Stirling Markets every Sunday – they are fabulous

Tell us about your ideal day on a plate…

Breakfast – Green juice (baby spinach, apple, cucumber, mint, cold water and ice) after exercise followed by Goodness Superfoods Barley clusters with coconut yoghurt, fresh blueberries and a teensy bit of lemon curd.
Lunch – a big salad with undressed coleslaw and baby spinach, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and tuna or a grainy salad with freekeh and lentils.
Dinner – BBQ or grilled chicken or steak with roasted vegetables or a leafy salad followed a little later by a couple of squares of dark choc or something I have baked. There are usually 2-3 cups of coffee or tea each day too.

What are 5 essentials for your pantry?

Oats, tinned brown lentils, undressed coleslaw, tuna and Goodness Superfoods Barley Clusters

Who is your foodie inspiration?

Jamie Oliver

How do you keep focused at work?

I work in 90 minute blocks with a 5-10 minute break in between. A clear to do list that I love crossing off and not checking email unless between focused jobs. This one always continues to be hard but it really works. I make sure I keep up fluids and eat regularly to maintain my brain working properly.

What are the key ingredients you use to nurture your body from the inside out?

At least 4 cups of vegetables/salad each day and a glass of water each hour, prunes and blueberries each morning and a high fibre cereal are all key to me. It’s also important to enjoy what you eat without guilt – it is a waste of energy.

How do you move your body – what is your favourite way to work out?

90 min walk through the bush and along the coast 3 x week, yoga 1 x week, stair repeats 3 x week

What are your top tips for keeping fit and active?

Make it non negotiable and do it at a time where nobody can interrupt or distract you (thats why I do it at 5.30am!). Get an exercise buddy – so important for me.

What is the most intensive workout you have ever experienced?

Completing the New York Marathon in 2013! Closely followed by the Swim to Rottnest.

How do you stay motivated?

I know that I am a nicer person when I exercise and that I am so much more productive, if I don’t exercise I get reminded all day by a bad mood! An exercise buddy is essential to my motivation and I make sure that we are both 100% committed and wont cancel on each other unless it is hail and lightening.
