When all is lost and you’ve run out of ideas for presents. When the craziness of everyday life has you wanting to hide away for a while. When you finally realise that you are actually worth it, then head to one of these day spas for some luxury pampering or magical massages.

Because everybody deserves to be treated as royalty once in a while. It shouldn’t be reserved only for the Meghan Markle’s of the world. This year, instead of receiving a dozen presents from friends and family that get shoved in the cupboard and never thought of again, why not ask them all to chip in and buy you an experience to remember. Here’s our picks for where to go to experience just a little bit of majesty in your life.

The Spa

With package names such as Australian Awakening, Divine Dreaming and Essential Enlivening, there is bound to be something for you at The Spa at the Park Hyatt. Located between the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge at The Rocks, your surroundings are luxurious, both inside and out. As a guest at The Spa, you can relax away the hours in one of their beautifully appointed treatment rooms and take advantage of the fully equipped gymnasium, relaxation room, aromatherapy steam room and the rooftop pool and terrace. This is how pampering is meant to be, so lie back and relax.

Signature Day Spa

Signature Day Spa isn’t in the city, it’s in Camperdown, but it’s consistently rave reviews means that it definitely requires a mention. Over three floors, this spa has over 20 specialised rooms, 6 themed couples room, female and male steam rooms, pre- and post-treatment relaxation lounges, in-house kitchen and bar facilities and the ONLY heated thermal magnesium pool in Sydney. The spa also specialises in Hen’s parties, social groups and couple’s treatments. The on-site Wellness Centre offers iridology, osteopathy, physiotherapy and Chinese medicine consultations as well as colon hydrotherapy. A range of massage and facial options are available, as well as tanning, tinting and waxing. Grab a group or head off by yourself to try something new and exciting in the world of day spas.

Chi The Spa

Drawing it’s inspiration from traditional wellness practices throughout Asia, Chi The Spa, fuses Australian crystals and botanicals into it’s massage treatments for a truly unique experience. Their Samadara Opulence treatment is 3 hours and 30 minutes of pure indulgence. First up is a Crystalus Body Massage where Australian healing stones and crystals are used to realign your entire body. This is followed by a Samadara Ultimate Age Defying Facial, finishing with a Rose Quartz Crystal Facial Massage for inner harmony. Located in the Shangri-La Hotel the day spa has long been used by weary travellers for rest and recovery following a long flight. For the rest of us, we can just pretend first class is the only way we fly.

Endota Spa

With 12 locations throughout metropolitan Sydney, Endota Spa is now the largest spa network in Australia. They consistently receive rave reviews for their treatments, customer service and products. They have a focus on ensuring their products are environmentally sustainable, cruelty free and include an organic range certified to the COSMOS standard through the ACO.
With a series of spa packages to suit every stage of life – Detox, Pregnancy, Revive, Grounding, Rejuvenate, Immerse or Surrender, you can experience a touch of indulgence from head to toe, without it costing an arm and a leg.

The Darling

The Darling Spa is the darling of the Spa scene and located at The Star Sydney. Featuring 11 treatment rooms (including two exclusive couples suites), you know you are in for a treat when they have La Pairie and ESPA as their skin care brands. If you are wanting decadence, you can’t go past the experience of Date Night – the two of you in the private Moroccan Hammam, letting the warmth of the heated marble relax you. This is followed by a Moroccan body exfoliation and then the two of you are left to apply the mud wrap to each other. Once wrapped and washed, you head to your VIP suite for a side by side fully body massage and an Espa facial. Just wow!

Alysium

Located in the Hilton Hotel, Alysium is the place where the Greek Gods went to rest. So too can you. Located next to the gym, you can try a yoga or pilates class, head for a swim in the pool, a spa or a sauna and steam before moving onto the spa itself. This Christmas, Alysium are offering a great deal that includes a 60 minutes massage, 60 min facial, 30-minute body scrub, High Tea and a $50 voucher for your next visit. All up, two and a half hours of delight that can be gifted as a voucher. Certainly, something to put on your list to Santa.

Fleur De Lis Medispa

The spa world is loving a Hammam ritual for now. This traditional healing practice has you lying on heated marble while your body is covered with a traditional black soap and scrubbed clean. A soothing clay is mixed with rosewater to nourish the skin. If that doesn’t sound luxe enough, Fleur De Lis offer a Royal Oriental Hammam – starting with an infra-red sauna session for detox, the Hammam ritual and then a massage and facial. Not quite reaching your Royal standards? How about the 24-carat pure gold facial – the only one of it’s kind in Australia. Talk about fit for a queen! A regular on Best Spa Lists, this Woollahra spa is certainly worth checking out.

We live in one of the greatest cities in the world. It’s only fitting that our day spas offer some of the best treatments, views and locations to be able to lie back, close your eyes and forget your troubles for a while. Whether it’s a massage, facial or other day spa staple, every now and then you have to stand in the mirror, look yourself straight in the eye and tell yourself, “I am absolutely worth it”.

Where’s your favourite place to be treated like a superstar?

Tell us about your experiences in any of the spas above, or perhaps you know somewhere that’s offering the next big thing. Either way, we’d love to hear about it.
