The Best Healthy Cafe’s in Bondi

The Best Healthy Cafe˙s in Bondi

Share

Even though I grew up in Bondi, I never tire of it. If I get up early, I love to do the Bondi to Bronte walk or an early Pilates class and of course stop off at a cafe after for a healthy, delicious breakfast with a view… either watching people enjoying the breeze or refuelling post exercise, watching the swell, usually it’s a bit of both. Kombucha, fresh smoothies and acai bowls are true Bondi specialties. Here are my favourite spots to take it all in.

1. Lox Stock and Barrel

A fantastic cafe with so many healthy options. Lox is reminiscent of a New York deli, albeit a healthier and more Bondi version. The atmosphere is casual, buzzy and always busy. The food is fresh and homely, and there are so many options to choose from. My favourite breakfast dish is the Zucchini Omelette with almond, spinach, parmesan, jalapeños - so fresh and zesty and it keep you full well into lunchtime. Lunches are another highlight, with a delicious selection of inventive salad combinations. Try the Fattoush and Raw Tuna Salad!

2. Harrys Bondi

This is quintessential Bondi, a stones throw from the beach. Most people sitting here have just had their morning swim and the crowd is full of locals. Harry’s has a selection of coffee blends and their own homemade almond macadamia milk, which tastes great with their signature beetroot or golden lattes. Personally, I love Harry’s because they have so many gluten free options, a favourite brekky is the feta, green pea and quinoa fritters and an amazing smoothie such as the delicious Goldmember Lassi which has a very healthy mixture of mango, turmeric, yoghurt and pistachio. Yum!

3. Shuk

Gorgeous Mediterranean and Israeli food nestled in suburban Bondi. Shuk is a busy cafe with a great little garden play area for the little ones (making it easy for mum’s + dad’s to enjoy a coffee in relative peace and quiet!) and the best Teff Flour Pancakes I have ever eaten. Shuk also does amazing Shakshuka and a breakfast bowl with pickled veggies, boiled egg and smoked eggplant. Truly delicious. Make sure you also check out their dinners and speciality Vegan nights.

4. Bondi Wholefoods

In the quiet end of Bondi, you will find a homely organic cafe and food store called Bondi Wholefoods. They have amazing organic produce & fresh organic vegetables. After you’ve finished your shopping it’s the perfect place to sit in the lovely courtyard and grab one of the best Acai bowls in Bondi for breakfast. Lunch is also a treat, with many salad options and a great selection of superfood juices and drinks.

5. Porch and Parlour

Quintessential Bondi. Artsy and elegant, all at once. Fantastic coffees and they do food all day, starting with their famous Green Pea Pancakes with avocado and egg for breakfast, to an array of tasting plates for dinner including my favourite - Miso Glazed Eggplant. Looking onto the beach on Bondi’s coolest corner, this is the place to be.
