First up, briefly tell us a bit about yourself and what you do!

My name is Camilla Bazley, and I’m a Personal Trainer and lifestyle coach in Sydney, based at Flow Athletic in Paddington. I have been a trainer for almost 11 years now, and there is truly nothing else I could imagine doing. I love what I do. Being an ex-athlete, I work with my clients to achieve a balanced lifestyle through exercise, nutrition, mindset, and COMMUNITY! Being around a positive group of people has such significant impact on any individual’s life. My run club that I have with Ben Lucas is definitely testament to everyday people living their best lives and being their own heros. In November, we are taking 50 runners over to New York to run the New York Marathon!

What time do you wake up most days and how many hours of sleep do you aim for?

I’m an early riser. 4.30am! My first client in the gym is always at 5.30am, so I like to do my own training before the day begins. It gets me off to a great start, and has me wide awake. I aim for 7-8 hours, but sometimes this can be difficult during the week. Sleep is so incredibly important for mental health, recovery, and general well-being. I always make it a priority to ensure I’m feeling my best!

What’s your morning routine to set you up for a great day?

4.35am – Apple Cider Vinegar in Hot water with a wedge of lemon.
4.45am – 30 Minute training session (usually running based as I’m training for the NY Marathon currently).
5.20am – Start drinking my first 1.5L bottle of water for the day, and then a black coffee! I love my coffee.
6.15-7am – Breakfast smoothie ready to go!

Describe a typical day of eating for you.

I’m all about eating WHOLEFOODS. Breakfast is generally a smoothie as when I’m training my clients I’m constantly on the go.
Lunch and dinner I eat A LOT of vegetables. A giant green bowl with eggs, salmon, and incorporate red meat 1-2 a week for iron and energy reasons. I love sweet potato or quinoa for a base to the bowls. BUT, I never look past smashed avocado and poached eggs on sourdough for breakfast if I’m not doing the smoothie option.

Your absolute favourite healthy cafe is?

Tough one!! I always love the choices at Room Ten in Potts Point and Side Room at Bondi.

Best place to get a green juice or smoothie in your city?

I love Side Room in Bondi, but Simon Says juices are amazing for on the go!

Favourite farmers market or healthy place to shop.

I LOVE the Bondi Farmer’s markets on a Saturday. I go there every week after I train my clients. I get my fresh flowers, green produce, and the corn fritters… well all I have to say is do yourself the favour!!

What’s your fitness routine & favourite way to get sweaty and where’s your go-to?

I’m a runner, swimmer, and spinner! I LOVE to run, it’s the most liberating form of exercise I can do. I can challenge myself, run with people, and discover new places. It has been the kindest form of training on my body, and it’s something I genuinely LOVE. I’m a big swimmer too. I love to incorporate at least 2-3 swims a week for both recovering reasons, but it’s also perfect way to build aerobic capacity, Vo2 max. I also teach spin classes. Nothing better than my weekly hit out in the spin studio at Flow Athletic because you can literally get lost in the music and SWEAT!

If you could only wear one brand of activewear for the rest of your life it would be…

Tough one!!! We are so spoiled for choices these days. I think I have a favourite brand for each different piece. I run in Nike shoes though, they are definitely my pick! And swimwear, Speedo all the way!

If you could have the ultimate day of wellness & happiness in [city] what would it involve and where would you go?

It would start with a harbor run with my friends, followed by coffee at Jackie’s Café in Paddington and then straight to my favourite yoga class at Flow Athletic in Paddington.

Brunch at Room 10 in Potts Point.

Infared Sauna, Massage, facial, then finish the day by the beach soaking in the sun.

And lastly… do you have any top secret tips you use to keep looking / feeling great?

Drink Water.
Eat a wide range of green foods.
Exercise Daily.
Sleep well.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GOOD PEOPLE!
