They may be known by many different names but what these nourishing bowls of whole foods have in common is that they’re a delicious way to get in several of your daily serves of vegetables. Whatever you prefer to call them, these nourish bowls, bliss bowls and Buddha bowls all pack plenty of greens, a serving of carbohydrate, protein, healthy fats, and tasty toppings into the perfect balanced lunch, dinner, or perhaps even breakfast, if you’re feeling particularly hungry! Here are some of the best nourish bowls we’ve discovered around Brisbane so far.

Dicki’s, New Farm

Since their opening in February of this year, Dicki’s has become a favourite for those seeking delicious plant-based food. As well as vegan versions of popular brunch favourites, also on the menu is their Nurture Bowl, a rainbow-like arrangement of crunchy vegetables, roasted pumpkin and crispy tempeh, topped with nuts and served with garlic sourdough. A must try!

Dovetail on Overend, Norman Park

This intimate café receives raving reviews for their great service and willingness to cater to those with a special diet, as all items on the menu can be altered to gluten free at no extra charge. For something different to standard savoury breakfast options, the Brekkie Rice Buddha Bowl combines brown rice with capsicum, tomato, kale, roasted pumpkin and avocado, topped with pine nuts and pomegranate. You wont find a better way to start your day.

Elixir HQ, Stafford

As Australia’s most awarded coffee roaster, not only does Elixir serve great coffee, they also offer all-day breakfast favourites and tasty lunch options at their café at Elixir HQ. Their gluten-free Nourish Salad Bowl is a colourful rainbow of baby spinach, roasted sweet potato, beans, cherry tomato, quinoa, za’atar-spiced chickpeas, topped with pickled cabbage, beetroot hummus, and a dukkah poached egg. Yum!

Miss Bliss Wholefoods Kitchen, West End

This popular café serves up a menu of nutritious breakfast and lunch dishes to cater for all tastes. Their aptly-named Bliss Bowl is currently a Mexican-inspired bowl of spinach, brown rice, corn, black beans and roasted pumpkin, topped with pickled red onion, chipotle hummus and a gooey egg sprinkled with smoked almond powder. The menu changes each season, so you’ll need to get in quick to try this Bliss Bowl before the summer version arrives!

Nodo, Newstead

With a focus on healthy, naturally gluten-free ingredients, Nodo is renowned for their baked donuts. But they’re not only about sweet treats, Nodo also serves a range of delicious, seasonal savoury dishes. The Greenest Bowl includes quinoa with charred asparagus, hemp-crusted avocado, baby broccoli, edamame, pickled grapes, kombucha verde and eggs, sprinkled with green pea dust. Getting your daily greens never tasted so good.

Sundays Café, Rocklea

Located opposite the Rocklea Train Station, this child-friendly café has plenty of photogenic brunch options that you’ll want to share on Instagram, including bright and beautiful pitaya bowls and superfood lattes. Most menu items are gluten free and vegetarian, including the Garden Bowl: a delicious combo of roasted cauliflower, sweet potato and kale with edamame, a poached egg, turmeric hummus, sesame dressing and dukkah.

The Bloom Room Café, Birkdale

Part of the same café group as Sundays, this stylish locale is decorated in white blooms and offers both an all-day breakfast and lunch menu catering for all tastes. The Kind Bowl is both vegan and gluten free, and includes plenty of pumpkin, baby carrots, avocado, greens, potato wedges and falafel balls, topped with pepitas and hummus. There’s also an option to add a poached egg if you like!

Wilde Kitchen, Teneriffe

Those with strict gluten-free requirements can dine without worry at Wilde Kitchen, which is 100% gluten free and accredited by Coeliac Australia. Based on a paleo philosophy, Wilde Kitchen aims to cater to most dietary requirements, and sources their ingredients from local producers. The Nourishing Greens Bowl includes their signature greens mix and avocado, resting on a bed of pumpkin purée, topped with their super seed mix and optional pan-fried salmon.
