Every weekend, countless markets pop-up around Perth, with stallholders selling everything from hand-made raw slices, coffee, international food and the most affordable organic produce you can find. With most farmer’s markets located outside, doing your food shopping in the sunshine with a coffee in hand is an epic weekend ritual that all of us should try. Here’s 13 of the best spots to buy organic outdoors around Perth;

Kyilla Community Farmer’s Market

Saturday’s, 8.00am-11:30am, North Perth

For some fresh air, a morning coffee and your weekly shop, Kyilla Farmer’s Markets leave enough to entertain the kids while you’re busy handling fruit and crossing off the shopping list. Kim from Flying Glow Worm will paint their faces (if the jumping castle at the Kids Zone isn’t enough to occupy them), meanwhile the big kids can indulge peacefully in a morning coffee and a brekky wrap.


Subiaco Farmer’s Market

Saturday’s, 8:00am-12 noon, Subiaco Primary School

Even if food shopping on a weekend isn’t your thing, The Subiaco Farmer’s Market is well worth a visit, if not solely for their badass Shakshuka Stall or Tapasman’s restaurant-quality brunch. Stock up on everything from organic honey, lose leaf tea, natural soaps, preserves and free range eggs — there’s not much you won’t find at the Subi Markets and it’s a lot more affordable than your local IGA.


Perth City Farm Organic Grower’s Market

Saturday’s, 8.00am-12 noon

Even if you don’t live nearby, the beautiful industrial building of the Perth City Farm is an definitely worth the trip for breakfast or lunch. The light-filled venue sells organic local produce, cold pressed juice, local raw honey, seasonal herb, veggie and flower seedlings as well as a bakery of organic sourdough breads. Parent’s never fear; there’s also a ‘play pit’ for the kids to preserve your sanity whilst you shop.


Kalamunda Farmer’s Market

Sunday’s, 8.00am-12 noon, Kalumunda

With endless stallholders selling nearly everything you can find in a supermarket, The Kalamunda Market’s is like a Turkish Bazaar of fresh produce. They’ve left no stone unturned; from natural cleaning products and gardening equipment to homemade pasta and pet food, you can also buy organic meat and ethically sourced seafood and eggs all from the one spot.


Growers Green Market

Sundays, 8.00am-12 noon, Fremantle

Sprawled on the grass out the front of South Fremantle Senior High School, The Growers Green Farmer’s Market is the perfect place to spend a lazy Sunday morning, enjoying live music, hot food and fair-trade coffee, whilst you leisurely make your way through the shopping list.


Stirling Farmer’s Markets

Sunday’s, 7:00am-11:30am

Located at Cedric Street and Stirling Park, bring your shopping bags and an empty stomach so you have room to enjoy all the amazing international food on offer at the Stirling Farmer’s Markets. From delicious Bao’s, Shishkebab’s and pastry’s, there’s also cold-pressed juice, raw balls and nice-cream to balance out the irresistible fried food on offer — never again will you have to endure hunger whilst doing the food shopping.


Mt Claremont Farmer’s Market

Saturday’s, 7:30am-11.:30am

Open rain, hail or sweltering forty-degree heat, The Mt Claremont Farmer’s Market bridges the gap between local producers and locals. With over 45 stalls and crowds of 2000 people, it’s become a favourite past-time for Claremont natives and with 350 spaces available for parking, this volunteer-run initiative do everything they can to make your life easy, and did we mention they provide some of the best local produce going round.


Poynter Farmers Market

Saturday (fortnightly), 9:00am-12 noon

Duncraig’s favourite local, is parked at the Poynter Primary School and they have some unique offerings, from Solarfruit’s naturally sundried fruits sourced in Donnybrook, stone fruit and nashi pears from Roleystone and homemade gnocci and tagliatelle. While you’re shopping for the week, Miam Miam provides much needed sustenance in the form of crepes, while The Bean Runner café work hard to keep you wide awake.


Palmyra Western Farmer’s Markets

Sunday’s, 8:00am-12 noon

Tucked away on the oval at Palmyra Primary school, this local gem sells cut flowers, native seedlings and home-made pasta to the sound of live music. Grab a coffee, Gozleme or a brekky burger, park yourself in a sunny spot on the lawn and soak up the good vibes.


The Farmer’s Market on Manning

Saturday’s, 7:30am-12.30pm

Located at the Clontarf Campus at Curtin University, this has got to be one of the more picturesque Farmer’s Market’s in Perth. Shaded under tall pine trees, and vibrant with the colours of fresh cut blooms and organic produce, the tranquil outdoor market has been a local favourite since 2009. As a one-stop-shop, it has everything you could possibly need, so come prepared with cash, eco-friendly bags and an empty stomach.


Swan River Community Markets

Saturday’s, 8:00am-1:00pm

This market truly is the whole package, offering $5 yoga, live music, free activities for the little-people and fresh produce — Swan River Community Markets have some of the best stalls going round.
